What's in this update


All State Board Award application process is open through Friday, September 13, 2019

The Colorado All State Board Award recognizes school boards across the state for overall excellence in governance. These boards develop a shared vision, engage their constituencies, and display sound reasoning and strong ethics.

The application must contain a narrative, up to two pages in length, describing the board’s governance work in all of the five following areas:

  • How the board advanced student success (engaging constituents, ensuring shared vision, developing policies/plans, and measuring specific improvements in achievement and growth).
  • How the board demonstrated leadership on either the district and community level or on the state, regional, or national level.
  • How the board used sound reasoning and strong ethics in its decision-making.
  • How the board continuously developed its members individually and as a team.
  • How the board displayed excellence and consistency in responding to challenges or issues the board and community faced.

Applications and any supporting documents must total no more than five printed pages.

The Closing Session, School Safety from the Ground Floor, will feature Christine Harms, Director of the Colorado School Safety Resource Center, and Beverly Kingston, Director and Senior Research Associate with the University of Colorado Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence. 

The 2019 Fall Delegate Assembly Conference will be held on October 18-19, 2019, in Breckenridge at the DoubleTree Hilton. Registration is now open.

Kicking off a new school year with your CASB Regional meeting

CASB members value the opportunity to connect with their peers and make vital connections to help them throughout the school year. The Fall Regional meetings offer an easy way to learn together and to hear from CASB staff about key issues and trends. 

The perfect way to kick off a new school year is to attend one of the 2019 CASB Fall Regional meetings. Meetings begin on September 18 and run through October 23. This is a great opportunity to meet the new CASB Executive Director, Cheri Wrench, and hear from CASB leadership on what's new on the horizon.
