Water ’22, a statewide, year-long initiative that implores Coloradans to take an active role in securing the state’s water future, is encouraging all Colorado students, grades K-12 and ages 5-19, to create a work that reflects a place, thing or activity they love connected to water that is within their local watershed or river basin.
Students can enter in various categories such as creative writing, photography or video, digital art, music and performance, sculpture or fashion. Four students across all categories will receive cash awards ranging from $250-$2,000 based upon their demonstration of passion and creativity as awarded by the judges. Teachers who assist students will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $250 cash prizes.

The 61st annual United States Senate Youth Program Washington Week is being planned for March 4–11, in Washington, D.C. Each delegate will be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate studies, with encouragement to pursue coursework in history and political science.
High school juniors or seniors with demonstrated leadership by serving in elected or appointed positions in which they are actively representing a constituency in organizations related to student government, education, public affairs and community service are eligible to apply.

CDPHE will provide school districts free training, testing, remediation, reimbursement and technical assistance through the new Test and Fix Water for Kids program. Supplies and guidance for testing will be available in October 2022, and the deadline for testing is May 31, 2023.
Before starting any sampling activities, school districts need to confirm their contact information, and verify any prior lead sampling by completing a survey. CDPHE sent an email with details to school administrators on Tuesday, August 23. If a district facilities manager didn’t receive the survey, email [email protected] with the facilities manager's name, school name and CDE school ID to request access to the survey or to discuss next steps with the program manager.
