Academic programs include college coursework for high school students offered through Northeastern Junior College, Advanced Placement courses, and Accelerated courses in English, math and science; Vocational programs include agriculture, marketing education and business; Activity programs include Art Club, DECA, FBLA, FFA, Jazz Band, Knowledge Bowl and National Honor Society, among many others. The community is very supportive and active in the schools and places high expectations on its staff to ensure a life-long learning experience.

They desire a superintendent who possesses knowledge and successful experience in curriculum development, instruction and assessments in a standards- based educational system, knows Colorado school law, finance and budgeting, exhibits excellent communication skills with the ability to relate with students, parents, staff, the board and community, is hands-on, open, approachable, and optimistic, maintains high visibility in the schools and the community, focuses on administrative decisions based on educating the whole student, understands use of technology and values blended instructional strategies, has a willingness to inspire others to achieve a common strategic vision, and understands small rural communities and their schools. Fort Lupton, home of Weld County School District RE-8, is nestled on the eastern bank of the South Platte River and enjoys a spectacular view of the Front Range from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak. The town is equidistant, about 25 miles, from the metropolitan centers of Denver, Boulder, Longmont and Greeley, and the shopping, cultural, and advanced educational opportunities those cities provide. Nearly 320 dedicated employees serve the educational needs of more than 2,300 students at two PK-5 elementary schools, one K-8 school, one 6-8 middle school, and one 9-12 high school.

The Cañon City School District, Fremont RE-1, has a long history of meeting the academic needs of the community’s children and a reputation of being at the forefront of effective practice and positive staff relations. Graduates of Cañon City High School can be found across the country in some of the top universities and in leadership roles in other communities. Locally, our graduates serve in many capacities that make our community stronger.
The school district serves 3970 students in four K-5 schools, one K-8 school, one 6-8 middle school, and one 9-12 comprehensive high school. Additionally, Cañon City offers one K-8 charter school, one 6-12 on-line school, an alternative diploma program in partnership with Pueblo Community College, and one 6-12 alternative school for expelled and/or at-risk students. Pre-K students are served through the partnership of several agencies and programs. The school district is one of the county’s largest employers, employing nearly 500 teachers, support staff, and administrators.

Superintendent of Schools

Arriba-Flagler Consolidated School District #20

Flagler, Colorado

The Arriba-Flagler Consolidated School District #20 encompasses nearly 1000 square miles of Lincoln and Kit Carson Counties in east central Colorado. Two hundred students attend classes in one Pre K – 12 school located in Flagler. The district has enjoyed stable enrollment for the past five years. 

The district received a rating of “Accredited” on the last performance framework prepared by the Colorado Department of Education. The district earned 77.3 percent of the 100 points available and was only 2.7 points short of being rated “Accredited with Distinction,” Colorado’s highest rating. The school received a rating of “Performance”-- the highest category of plan assignment given by the Department of Education--by scoring 82 out of 100 points on the framework. The district has achieved a graduation rate of 100 percent nearly every year.
