CASB Regions Reorganization
Beginning January 2009, CASB member school districts will follow a new CASB regional map.
This page answers frequently asked questions about the new regional restructure. If you have further questions, feel free to e-mail Jessica Kinghorn at jkinghorn@casb.org.

Why did CASB restructure its regions?
At the 2008 Annual Business Meeting last December, CASB delegates adopted an amendment to the CASB Bylaws directing the CASB Board to divide the state into 12 CASB regions (instead of 10) to better match the regions by geographic area and interest. The amendment also directed the CASB Board to designate four large district seats on the CASB Board of Directors and modify the formula used to determine the number of CASB Board seats for any one region. In total, these changes added two large district and two "small district" or rural seats to the CASB Board.
This regional change arose out of discussions among an advisory committee of school board members created after a CASB dues increase was passed by the delegates in 2006. The committee was convened to discuss issues of dues equity, representation of large districts on the CASB Board and the number of CASB regions.

When does the regions change take effect?
The regional change takes effect in January 2009. However, at this December’s Annual Meeting, CASB members will be voting for the Board of Directors based on the new regions, since they will be the CASB directors for the 2009 calendar year.
Look for information about Board of Director nominations in mid September.
What region is my school district in?
Many of you may have new region numbers, but your regions may have not changed much. Those districts in the Northwestern part of the state will see the most dramatic changes.
Below is a list of CASB’s new regions and their corresponding school districts as of January 2009.

Which CASB Fall Regional Meeting should I attend?
There are now 12 CASB Fall Regional Meetings to correspond to the new regions. However, as always, you may attend as many CASB regional meetings you’d like to attend. CASB suggests you attend the regional that best fits your geographic constraints.
