CASB Conferences
CASB offers statewide conferences, regional meetings, workshops and its annual convention to provide members with useful knowledge and tools to strengthen their governance role. Conferences and convention also give members valuable time to interact and learn from each other. Below is a list of CASB’s annual conferences.
CASB Classrooms Online
Denver/statewide
Designed to develop CASB members’ knowledge of the skills and content
that support great governance. Topics include, but are not limited to:
effective board meetings, financial accountability, connecting with
your community and maximizing student achievement.
Hispanic/Latino Conference (March—2 days) Moved to August 26 in 2010
Rotates among Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma
Focuses on innovative programs and strategies proven successful in
strengthening the education of Hispanic/Latino students. Sponsored by
the Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma school board associations.
CASB Fall Regional Meetings (September and October—evening meetings)
Various locations across Colorado
An opportunity for members from the same geographical region to share challenges and get updates on hot topics from CASB staff.
Fall Conference & Delegate Assembly (October—2-days)
Various locations (will be in Loveland in 2010)
Focuses on a specific topic each year. This year the Fall Conference
will focus on standards-based education. Delegate Assembly is held on
the Saturday morning of Fall Conference.
CASB Annual Convention (early December—4-days which includes preconvention)
Colorado Springs, The Broadmoor Hotel
Our largest and most comprehensive conference, more than 1,000 CASB
members come from around Colorado to learn from prestigious keynote
speakers and enlightening breakout sessions. Many board members also
take this time to interact with each other and learn from one another’s
experiences.
Winter Legislative Conference (February—2 days)
Denver
Focuses on major issues affecting legislation and other public policy
issues. Attendees also have an opportunity to have lunch with
legislators and visit the Capitol.
