Apply to be part of the COVID-19 Policy Implication Stakeholder Group

The application for the COVID-19 Policy Implications Stakeholder Group was released this week, seeking a broad group of stakeholders from all different parts of the state. The legislature included the creation of the group in the School Finance Act as a way to review the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting disruption of the 2019-20 school year, including student transition to remote learning and the cancellation of the state assessments, accountability, accreditation, and educator evaluation systems.

The group will discuss how the cancellation of state assessments will impact accountability, accreditation, and educator evaluations during the 2020-21 school year and whether future modifications are needed for these areas in response to the pandemic.

As specified in the law, the COVID-19 Policy Implications Stakeholder Group will be formed under the direction of Commissioner Katy Anthes and is expected to be convened around the time the 2020-21 school year begins and will meet regularly through December.

The group will include representatives with diverse viewpoints about assessments, accountability, and educator effectiveness by including individuals impacted by these systems, individuals with expertise in these systems and individuals engaged in advocacy around these systems.

If you are interested in applying or know someone who would be good for this, please fill out and submit the application by no later than Tuesday, July 28.
