Stakeholder survey on CARES-ESSER funding open through May 18
 

A stakeholder survey gathering input on how the Colorado Department of Education should use the 10% in state reserve funds under the CARES Act Elementary Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) will remain open through Monday, May 18.

CDE has submitted its ESSER application to the U.S. Department of Education, which has allocated close to $121 million to the state. At least 90% of funds will go to local education agencies (LEAs) based on 2019-20 Title I shares. The remaining 10% may be reserved at the state level for statewide support to LEAs in response to COVID or to provide additional grant opportunities for LEAs.
LEAs have an obligation for equitable services to non-public schools and will need to consider this when determining district budgets for ESSER.

CDE has created a spreadsheet to project the estimated allocation each LEA will receive in ESSER funds (XLS). The actual allocations may vary slightly.

Once ESSER funds are released to Colorado, CDE will launch the application process for LEAs to receive their allocation.
