Department of Early Childhood listening sessions

Colorado is creating a new unified state Department of Early Childhood, effective July 1, 2022. The Early Childhood Leadership Commission is tasked with approving a plan to transition to the new agency, as well as to guide the state’s new universal preschool program.

To ensure that the voices of parents, families, program providers, members of the workforce, human service leaders, school districts, advocates, and other stakeholders are central to the design of the new Department of Early Childhood, the ECLC is seeking input through a variety of engagement opportunities throughout the summer. Current engagement opportunities include:

• A monthly town hall beginning Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 5:30 p.m. Hear updates about the transition planning process and opportunities to get involved. Spanish language interpretation will be available. To learn more and to register, please visit the meeting registration webpage.
• Subgroup meetings will meet throughout the summer and fall to advise and inform the transition planning process. Visit the subgroup webpage to learn more about each subgroup, including previous meeting notes and recordings.
• Share feedback, recommendations, questions or suggestions for the transition plan and universal preschool recommendations by visiting the webpage.
