A message from the ECLC

Thank you to the nearly 600 stakeholders who expressed interest in being involved in the planning of Colorado’s new Department of Early Childhood and the implementation of universal preschool! We are happy that so many of you could join the kick-off webinar hosted by the Early Childhood Leadership Commission (ECLC), Governor’s Office, Colorado Department of Education, and Colorado Department of Human Services last week. In case you missed it, WATCH the recording.

With such an overwhelming response and the incredible excitement about the process, we have:

  • created additional subgroups that will be open to everyone to participate,
  • started this monthly newsletter to keep everyone informed, and
  • committed to creating multiple opportunities for you to share your valuable perspective throughout the process.
Read this month's newsletter to learn more about how we hope to engage families and professionals in this process and update your subscription to this monthly newsletter to get additional information about each group.

We are so grateful to all of you for your investment in the success of this process and look forward to working alongside you to chart the best path forward for Colorado’s young children and their families.

Opportunities to Engage & Stay Informed

We are committed to ensuring broad stakeholder engagement throughout the process.  We will continue to send updates and share information as dates and opportunities are confirmed.

We want to ensure that we remain focused on Families, Workforce, and Provider Experiences:

  • Interactive Listening Sessions: The ECLC will hold multiple user-centered sessions this summer focused on the experiences of families, workforce, and program providers who are navigating the systems to hear directly from them about their perspectives and experiences with various aspects of the early childhood system.

We are creating multiple opportunities for you to share your valuable perspective throughout the process.  These include:

  • Statewide Listening Tour: In early fall, the ECLC will hold a statewide listening tour, where members of our team will go into communities, share the progress on the plan, and ask for feedback.
  • Feedback Form: A brief feedback form is available on the website throughout the process. Stakeholder input will be made public, as directed by the legislation, and shared with the appropriate subgroup or TAG.

To stay up-to-date with the latest information on the transition process:

  • Monthly Town Halls: The ECLC will schedule monthly, evening town halls to share progress on the transition plan and universal preschool  recommendations.

  • Monthly Newsletter: A monthly newsletter will be sent to this email list, detailing progress on the transition plan and universal preschool program recommendations and highlighting the work ahead.
Click HERE to learn more about these opportunities.  Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
If you are receiving this email directly, you will receive monthly newsletter updates as well as invites to participate in these opportunities as they are scheduled. If you would like to receive specific information on each of the subgroups, please update your subscription profile to receive more frequent information, including meeting dates, agendas and minutes. Please encourage others to subscribe and help promote these opportunities to build an early childhood system that ensures all children are valued, healthy and thriving.
