** UIP submission deadline is May 15
The 2019-20 UIPs are due for public posting by Friday, May 15. If a district needs additional flexibility, rule amendments have been submitted to the state board to extend the deadline until Oct 15. CDE is treating the May 15 deadline as a passive process – meaning that if a plan is not submitted in May, then an updated 2020-21 UIP must be submitted by October. The UIP Online System Template will roll over to the 2020-21 template on Monday, June 8. After this date, the 2019-20 template will be closed (i.e., no more edits) and districts/schools can begin work in the 2020-21 template. If you go to the website, you can also provide feedback on moving to a permanent October public posting deadline beginning in 2021-22.

Secretary DeVos Releases Title IX Final Rule
On Wednesday, May 6, Secretary Betsy DeVos released Title IX final rule that amends the regulations implementing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The final regulations specify how recipients of federal financial assistance, including elementary and secondary schools, must respond to allegations of sexual harassment and assault consistent with Title IX’s prohibition against sex discrimination. For more information, see the links below. Title IX Coordinators should work with district legal counsel to understand how the new regulations affect the district’s Title IX policies and procedures, and make revisions as necessary.
