Update on Variance Waiver Requirements for School Year 2022-23

For the second year in a row, CDE will provide districts and schools the opportunity to request a Variance Waiver to the posted guidance regarding Blended Learning Courses and Supplemental Online Courses as outlined in the 2021 Student October Count Audit Resource Guide. These sections of the Guide will remain the same for the 2022-23 school year.

Variance Waivers granted during the 2021-22 school year are good for two years; however, schools/districts needing an additional year must still complete a formal request by Wednesday, June 15.
Schools/districts that need a variance waiver for the first time may also submit a request by Monday, Aug., 15.

Information on how to submit the applicable requests can be found on CDE's website.
