Return ASCENT Slots – Due Monday, Aug. 2

Please email Michelle Romero: [email protected] by Monday, Aug. 2 if your district/charter school will not use any of your new 2021-22 allocated ASCENT slots so that they can be reallocated to LEPs with students who want to participate in ASCENT. Releasing your unused slot(s) by Aug. 2 will allow your district/authorizer to avoid carrying forward this slot into 2022-23 and thus avoid carrying forward 2021-22 ASCENT funding into the 2022-23 school year.

Additionally, if your school or district needs any unused ASCENT slots, email Michelle Romero by Monday, July 26. Include your district/authorizer name, district/authorizer code number and number of additional slots your district/charter school can still use. If you request additional slots, please ensure that these slots will be used by eligible students during the 2021-22 school year.

Support & Intervention

Learning cohorts for school leaders

Starting in the fall of 2021, CDE is excited to be convening learning cohorts to support school and district leaders. The cohorts are designed to help school/district teams to connect with other districts, observe and learn about strategies, and reflect on ways to improve practices. Each cohort has a different main topic with an overall focus on supporting school improvement efforts and strategies. We think this will be a great opportunity for districts to share expertise and learn from each other, identify new strategies, and find ways to better support students. There are six cohorts that are being developed this summer (new Online Schools, Alternative Education Campuses, P-3 Learning, Organizing and managing data, and COVID Comeback).
