The Technical Advisory Panel for Longitudinal Student Growth will meet on Tuesday, May 25,  from 9 a.m. to noon. The public meeting will be held by Zoom. 

The meeting agenda will include items related to state educational accountability.

Call for UIP Reviewers 2021-22
 

The School Improvement Planning team seeks school and district leaders interested in reviewing and providing feedback school improvement plans from October to December. Time commitment can be variable and is flexible with compensation provided. This is a great professional learning opportunity, for those with existing full-time positions or those with more flexible schedules. Interested parties should complete the interest survey here.

Early Learning & School Readiness

Colorado Comprehensive Literacy State Development- RFA release
 

CDE is excited to announce that the Request for Applications for the Colorado Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant is now live and open for applications. The CLSD program is a federally supported grant intended to expand the use of evidence-based reading practices and interventions that advance literacy skills for children from birth to grade 12. Emphasis will be on historically underserved students including children in poverty, English learners, and children with disabilities through educator professional development, literacy consulting support, development of a district-wide Comprehensive Local Literacy Plan and other high impact strategies.
The RFA and supporting documents can be found on the CLSD webpage.

Applications are due Friday, July 30. An informational webinar on the CLSD Grant Program and application process will take place Friday, May 21. Consolidated application required forms
 

The School Improvement Retention of Funds and Non-public School Consultation forms are due to CDE by Sunday, May 30. Both forms need to be uploaded into the 2021-22 consolidated application. The School Improvement Retention of Funds form will need to be uploaded on the Documents Upload page and the Non-Public School Consultation form will need to be uploaded on the Non-Public Schools page of the application. LEAs do not have to submit the application in order to turn in the forms. Once they are uploaded in the application, they will appear on CDE’s side.

Health, Wellness & Nutrition

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program application now open
 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture  Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program applications are now open for School Year 2021-22. To apply for the FFVP, districts must complete the application in the CO Child Nutrition Portal by Saturday, July 31. Please reference the application instructions for more details.

Colorado expects to receive approximately $3 million to appropriate to districts implementing the FFVP. The amount awarded, per selected sites, will be based on total student enrollment.

Qualified schools may be awarded FFVP funds based on the following criteria:
• Be an elementary school.
• Begin FFVP operations at the start of the school year.
• Have at least 50% of its students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch based on the 2020-21 PK-12 free and reduced-price data.  Preference will be given to those schools with the highest eligibility percentage.

2021 Equity & Excellence Learning Series sign up now open
 

Sign up now for the virtual 2021 Equity & Excellence Learning Series on June 16-17, June 23-24 and Aug. 4-6. Titled: "Reflect, Reset, Reimagine: Tools and Strategies to Accelerate Student Learning and Well-Being in Colorado," the series will be anchored by CDE’s COVID Learning Impact Toolkit's four key areas: recovery planning, extended learning opportunities, instruction and intervention, and well-being and connectedness.

The series is designed for district and school leaders, classroom leaders, and school support specialists who have and will continue to do the work necessary to address opportunity gaps exacerbated by the pandemic. Particularly, the Learning Series will speak to:
• School leaders (Principals, Assistant Principals)
• Federal Program directors
• Special Education Directors
• Educators and Specialists as content is relevant
• Health & Wellness/ Social-Emotional Learning/ Nutrition directors and coordinators
