DENVER — The application process for the 2019 All State School Board Award is now open. This award recognizes Colorado school boards for sustaining excellence in governance in an era of intense challenges. The honored team models sustained excellence in engaging constituents, developing a shared vision, maintaining policies and plans for increasing student achievement, making decisions with sound reasoning and strong ethics, continually improving board effectiveness and displaying excellence in responding to challenges and issues.
Last year's award went to the Westminster Public Schools Board of Education. The award was sponsored by AVID and presented at the annual CASB Convention.
Superintendents provide invaluable expertise, vision, dedication, and commitment to their communities. With that in mind, we hope you’ll consider recognizing an outstanding colleague with a nomination for the 2020 American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Superintendent of the Year for Colorado. Our Colorado winner will automatically become eligible for next year’s national award.
AASA recently announced the opening of their 2020 program throughout the United States. Please click here to review details about this year’s call for nominations. In Colorado we follow the process outlined by AASA and the final selection is made by a panel of previous superintendent of the year award winners, as well as other superintendent peers, to assure a geographic and district size balance.
The application for the 2020 Colorado Teacher of the Year is now available. Each year, the Colorado Teacher of the Year Program honors an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled teacher in any state-approved or accredited school, kindergarten through grade 12, who is planning to continue in an active teaching status, to represent the entire profession in Colorado.
Applications for this honor are due Wednesday, July 10. Access the application, requirements and additional information on the program webpage.
